One peaceful spring morning in Central Florida, I anxiously awaited the perfect shot of a Great Egret. The bird was framed by the beautiful natural elements of oak branches and hanging Spanish moss, and I knew this moment would be truly exquisite if I could capture it just right. After patiently waiting, my efforts paid off when the egret finally took flight, and I was able to capture a breathtaking image that genuinely encapsulates the beauty of these magnificent creatures.
As a photographer, I aim to express my unique interpretation of reality through my work. During post-processing, I converted the image to black and white, darkened the sky, and added a lighting effect. These creative choices resulted in a dreamy and mysterious image, transporting the viewer to a world that exists only in the imagination. Overall, my work represents my vision and invites the viewer to share my creative interpretation of the world around us.
"Fenqiang Liu‘s stunning image is an effective advertisement for the artistic potential of monochrome. The framing of the shot is exquisite, with the oak branches and hanging moss creating a natural frame for the egret, emphasizing its elegance and beauty, whilst the timing is similarly perfect, capturing the egret just as it takes off from the tree. The use of light and shadow is masterful, with the darkened sky creating a mysterious and artistic impression, and the added light highlighting the bird’s form and creating a striking contrast against the background. The black and white tones also enhance the image’s sense of ether-realism, evoking a sense of nostalgia and reverence for the beauty of nature."
